"I played on every song as the whole thing was cut live with Gene Chrisman on drums, Bobby Emmons and Bobby Wood on keys, Mickey Raphael on harmonica, Mike Brigg on bass, and Johnny Cristopher, Reggie Young, Willie Nelson, Glen Campbell, and myself all on guitars. Later I came back for one session for overdubs, angels love bad men is indeed me as well as all the other leads except we're all in your corner tonight, and silver stallion, which is me and Reggie in unison. All the stars sang their parts live too. The music was basically simple, but to play with a big band like that live in the studio and to not just play the right chords but to come up with good parts that would blend with five guitarists all playing at once without stepping on each other was quite a challenge and a joy all around."
